A major drawback of using electric vehicles is the long charging time, especially when using alternating current (AC) mode, as for wall boxes installed in private homes or standard public charging stations. In these cases, a full charge can take several hours.
Fast direct current (DC) charging offers a practical solution to this limitation: it allows the vehicle to be charged up to 80% in 20-30 minutes, thanks to high-power charging stations. This type of charging, known as Mode 4, sends energy directly to the battery, without passing through the vehicle internal charger.
ICC solution
ICC offers the DC EVC Cable IEC 126, developed specifically for DC charging applications, in accordance with IEC 62893-4-1 standard. These cables are designed to supply power between the charging station and the electric vehicle, and can be installed outdoors, even in direct sunlight, in the presence of chemicals or water, for both fixed and mobile use.
UL Certification
The DC EVC Cable IEC 126 product is UL-EU certified and it is part of the ICCxEV® cable range, ICC range of specific solutions dedicated to e-mobility.
UL (Underwriters Laboratories) certification attests that the product has been tested according to rigorous standards, guaranteeing total safety for use in contexts such as public infrastructure and industrial environments.
Technical characteristics
The ICC DC EVC CABLE IEC 126 cable stands out for:
• a nominal voltage of up to 1.8 kV DC,
• a wide range of available cross-sections, with a power conductor that can reach a nominal cross-section of 95 mm²
• an operating temperature between –25°C and +90°C.
• Good flexibility, guaranteed by class 5 and 6 IEC 60228 copper conductors.
The materials used for insulation and sheathing are based on halogen-free compounds (LSZH), compliant with IEC 62893-1, and do not propagate flames in accordance with IEC 60332-1-2.
Various configurations are available for this product, which can also be manufactured with twisted or bundled control conductors for better management of communication signals as required by EN 61851-1 and EN 62196 series standards.
With this product, ICC expands its ICCxEV® range and follows the trend of a constantly evolving market, offering reliable, safe solutions that comply with international standards.
